Countdown begins to launch of Sunrise FM- meet the team
mpressive talent, great personalities and exciting energy- that’s just a taste of what you can expect from Sunrise FM’s new presenter line-up.
Sunrise FM’s managing director, Althaf Suleman announced that the station’s line-up includes seven skilled and aspiring presenters from diverse backgrounds, who will each bring a unique element to the station’s programming.
Suleman, who has over 17 years’ experience in the radio industry, said, “Our line-up caters for the diversity of Chatsworth and the fabric of the area. It was key that most of the station’s presenters resided in Chatsworth as this allows them to understand the target audience and contribute meaningfully towards Chatsworth. We are pleased with the line-up and are certain that the selection of presenters will entertain our listeners.”
The new team has expressed their excitement and eagerness to start their new journey at Sunrise FM.
Sirshin Moodliar who recently joined Sunrise FM as a senior presenter, will be the anchor for the ‘Sirshin Moodliar on Sunrise’ show which airs from 9am to 12pm on Mondays to Fridays. He is no stranger to the radio broadcasting industry and adds that even after 15 years’ experience in radio, he still feels the drive and enthusiasm of radio every day. Moodliar is absolutely thrilled to have been afforded the opportunity to be associated with Sunrise FM and believes that the station has a high potential to prosper and benefit the Chatsworth community.
Join Neo Iman Mothae from 2pm to 5pm on the ‘Neo Iman on Sunrise’ show from Mondays to Fridays. She is an articulate and dynamic presenter and is also an accomplished writer and filmmaker. Mothae has held various positions in the film and theatre industry including the role of film reviewer for the Durban International Film Festival. Her background in arts and film, her cheerful personality and good communications skills make her the ideal anchor for Sunrise FM’s weekdays afternoon show. She is extremely enthusiastic about the future of Sunrise FM and aspires to make a significant contribution to Chatsworth through radio.
Dez Govender presents ‘The Weekend Wake-Up with Dez’ show on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 12pm. Govender is energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated with over seven years’ experience in the radio industry. He is also currently managing his own marketing business at Digital Dez Media and is the proud founder of ‘The BizNiz Network’, which is a local networking organisation that assists with supporting, building and growing local businesses. His extensive experience in digital media as well as his radio experience and dynamic personality make Dez a great presenter for this show segment.
The powerful female duo of Mehrunnissa Mullah Muhammad and Fikile Cele (with the aliases ‘Ms M’ and ‘Angel’ respectively) will entertain you on Sundays from 2pm to 5pm on ‘The Chill Zone with Angel and Ms M’ show. ‘Ms M’ has extensive experience in the education, creative arts and radio broadcasting industries. She is also an accomplished entrepreneur for MMC Solutions and campaigner for Namalandi Creativity. She is a multiskilled, driven and dynamic radio presenter and has produced and managed her own shows. Mehrunnissa, whose name co-incidentally means ‘woman of the sun’, is committed towards providing an entertaining show and positively influencing the community of Chatsworth through her work at Sunrise FM.

Fikile Cele (‘Angel’) is a well-spoken presenter and is passionate about radio. She has a background in arts and drama. As a part time model, she also empowers women to achieve their best through self-acceptance and self-love. She believes that radio is the ideal medium to positively influence society. Her excellent communication skills coupled to her friendly personality, great humour and vivacious energy are elements which ensures she will always deliver an entertaining show to her listeners. She is confident that Sunrise FM will make great strides in adding value to the community.
Ragini Booputh and Bhavna Govender are both feature presenters on the Sunrise FM. Booputh presents the motivational and cooking feature at Sunrise FM on Fridays as part of the AM show. Her features titled ‘Motivational Minute with Ragini’ and ‘Kitchen Spoils with Ragini’ will educate and inspire listeners. She is an experienced educator and has taught in primary and secondary schools within Chatsworth. As a philanthropist, she currently serves as the co-founder and member of Project HOPE (Helping Our People Excel) where she is actively involved in social development programs and career counselling at schools. Teaching and motivating people are her passion. She believes that Sunrise FM will be a platform to motivate and encourage the Chatsworth community.
Govender is a motivated, passionate and professional speech and drama graduate with over 20 years’ experience in the entertainment industry. She brings to Sunrise FM her acting, singing and dancing skills. She has been involved in plays, theatre production, Bollywood production as well as local & international dance shows. She hopes to make a positive impact to the lives of others by inspiring listeners and keeping them entertained. She has performed in some of the most prestigious and well renowned events, and was also a finalist in the Miss India and Mrs India competitions in previous years. She is energetic, vibrant and highly knowledgeable when it comes to Bollywood, Hollywood and local entertainment. Her endearing passion for radio together with her acting and dancing expertise, make her an excellent entertainment feature presenter for Sunrise FM. She presents the ‘Buzz with Bhavna’ entertainment feature on weekdays and weekends.
Fusion Life Radio, an online fusion station, broadcasts live on Sunrise FM every Saturday from 8pm to 12 pm to bring listeners a Saturday Night Fusion Party. Sanveer Gowrie and Mithesh Prahalath (DJ Desiblue), the owners of Fusion Life Radio are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with Sunrise FM and entertain the Chatsworth Community. Fusion Life Radio brings to Sunrise FM a network of South Africa’s most well renowned DJs. The highly successful Fusion Life Radio has confirmed an exciting DJ line-up, who will perform on a rotational basis and includes Sanveer Gowrie, DJ Desiblue, Avishkar Sonna (DJ Avesh), Vinosh Ramparsad, Sanesh Singh and Suraj Singh.
Suleman further explained that the inclusion of this segment into the station’s programme is a perfect synergy, adds entertainment value and affords Sunrise FM an opportunity to showcase and promote local talent.
